How to choose an offsite destination in India

Choose on four things, in this order. Group size sets the shortlist. Travel time decides how much of the first day you lose. Season rules places in or out. Budget then picks the hotel grade and the number of nights.

Group size
Island and hill retreats suit 30 to 250 people. Kochi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and the other large cities take conferences of 1,000 or more.
Travel time
Most places here are one to four hours by air from Mumbai or Delhi. Lonavala is about 85 km from Mumbai by road, and Uttarakhand is within a day of Delhi.
Season
October to March is the safe window for most places. Kashmir runs April to October, and the Andaman Islands October to May. Ferries, rafting and roads close in the monsoon.
Budget
Cost follows group size, nights, hotel grade and flights. For reference, a 200-person, one-night conference runs ₹35-70 lakh, twin sharing, before GST, with stay, food and beverage, AV and branding.

Which India destination suits a group of 100 for three nights?

Goa, Rajasthan, Kerala and Lonavala all take a group of that size without strain. Pick Goa or Kerala for a beach resort, Rajasthan for a palace, and Lonavala if the group is based in Mumbai or Pune and you want the shortest transfer.

When is the best time for an offsite in India?

October to March for most places. Kashmir is best from April to October, Uttarakhand from October to June and the Andaman Islands from October to May. In the monsoon, Lonavala still works, while Goa and Kerala programmes need indoor plans.

Which offsite destinations are closest to Mumbai?
