What does an event manager do day to day?

An Event Manager at ICE India works on three things at once: finding and keeping clients, designing the programme, and delivering it. The role covers selling and delivery, so the person who meets the client is the person who answers for the event.

A working week mixes client calls and meetings, concept and proposal writing, budgets, venue and supplier shortlists, and site visits. On event days the manager is on site with the crew and the client.

Before the event
Take the brief, shortlist venues and suppliers, write the concept and proposal, and agree the budget with the client.
During the event
Brief the crew and vendors, manage artists and the run of show, and handle changes on the day.
After the event
Close vendor accounts, review what worked with the client, and use that to win the next event.

Which events would you work on?

ICE India has delivered 1,500+ events since 2009, including 500+ conferences and 500+ award ceremonies. The work spans corporate conferences, award ceremonies, product launches, networking events, offsites and incentive travel, in India and abroad through vetted local partners in 40+ countries.

The largest recent programme was ICANN85 in Mumbai, 7 to 12 March 2026, for 2,500 delegates, run with 45+ crew on site, 300+ airport transfers and 30 exhibition booths. An Event Manager learns on programmes of that range, from a small networking evening to an international conference.

What skills do event management jobs need?

Event management jobs reward people who can sell, plan and deliver. ICE India looks for these skills in an Event Manager.

Industry knowledge
You know how events and MICE programmes are bought, priced and delivered in India.
Lead generation
You find new clients and open conversations, rather than waiting for enquiries.
Client servicing and project management
You keep a client informed and a project on schedule from brief to event day.
Proposals and budgeting
You write a clear proposal and a budget that holds up when costs move.
Venue, vendor and artist management
You source venues, brief suppliers and handle artists so that the event runs on time.
MS Office and English
You work in MS Office daily, and write and speak English to a high standard.

How to get a job in an event management company

Most event management companies in India hire for experience, and ICE India is no different. The Event Manager role asks for a degree and at least five years in MICE, event management and production, or hospitality. ICE India hires for one of the three and trains for the other two.

If you are building towards a role like this, the useful experience is hands-on: events you have run, the budget you handled, and the suppliers you managed. Put those on your CV, with your role and the size of each event.

Event management careers: is a career in MICE right for you?

Careers in MICE suit people who like fixed dates, many moving parts and visible results. Event days cannot be moved, so planning, checklists and calm under pressure matter more than any single talent.

Event careers usually grow from coordinating parts of an event to owning whole programmes, including the client relationship and the budget. At ICE India the Event Manager already owns whole programmes, from the first client call to the final invoice, so the experience is broad from the start.

Working at a MICE company in Mumbai

ICE India is a corporate event management and MICE company, founded in Mumbai in 2009 by Mufaddal Dahodwala. Mumbai is the headquarters and the only office with a sales function, so the Event Manager role is based here.

Delivery teams work from Delhi NCR (Gurugram), Goa, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi, and overseas programmes run through vetted local partners. Clients most often mention the founder's personal involvement, and the company is built around process.

Freelance and event crew work

ICE India collects CVs from freelancers and event crew at any time, and keeps them apart from the Event Manager applications. Useful skills include production, registration and guest handling, and on-site coordination.

  • Dear Mufaddal and Shreya, This was our first event and we approached ICE India for support. You both were very calm, composed and able to make decisions at once, quickly. You were able to understand our needs and always happy to help even when the plan changes last minute. You are very organized in your work which leads to minimum last minute issues – which we all know are bound to happen. We had a fantastic experience and were treated with thorough professionalism right from planning, organizing and executing the event. It was a fabulous experience working with you both and we cannot thank you enough for executing it so well. Kind regards, Gita

  • We worked with ICE India for Confluence, our annual global partners meet. There were 4 other agencies who were pitching for this event and we finally chose ICE India due to their thorough understanding of our needs and the innovative ideas which they suggested for the event. Since this was the first time that we were working with ICE India for such a large scale event, we were a bit skeptical, but Mufaddal and his team were involved in every small aspect of the event and executed it seamlessly. The biggest thing that they bring to the table is the organized way in which they work, which leads to minimum last minute issues, which we all know is bound to happen in a large scale event. All in all it was a very good experience working with them.
