Why companies choose Hyderabad

  • Reachable from every office

Direct flights from the northern, western, eastern and southern metros mean a group assembled from many cities lands on the same day.

  • A convention centre at scale

HICC and HITEX sit in the same business district, one built for conventions and one for exhibitions and trade shows.

  • Business hotels in depth

Large ballrooms from the Taj, ITC, Marriott, Westin and Trident properties across the IT corridor and the older city.

  • Heritage on hand

Charminar, Chowmahalla, the Qutb Shahi Tombs and palace lawns give a programme a place to be set in.

  • Food as an event format

Hyderabadi dinners, tastings and qawwali evenings that feel local rather than catered.

  • A team on the ground

Vendors, transfers and the event day are handled by ICE India's own staff in the city.

Hyderabad for corporate groups

Hyderabad is the capital of Telangana, on the Deccan Plateau by the Musi River. Glass office towers and malls stand a short drive from a city that is more than 400 years old, and that combination is what corporate programmes use: modern venues for the working day and a Nizami heritage backdrop for the evening.

For a company with offices across the country the city is also a fair meeting ground. A team spread across several cities can meet here without anyone travelling to a colleague's home turf, flights arrive from all directions, and the hotel market is large enough that a group of 100 or one of 3,000 can be placed without stretching the venue.

ICE India's Hyderabad team knows the IT corridor, the older city and the airport belt. Venue sourcing, flights, coach transfers, AV, production and entertainment sit in one plan, with a single point of contact, end to end.

ICE India is an event management company in Hyderabad, and the venues section below covers corporate meetings in hotel ballrooms and at HICC and HITEX. Delegates fly in from other cities, and ICE India's MICE travel agency handles the flights.

Where to hold an event in Hyderabad

Three areas cover nearly every programme. Each has its own hotels.

The convention district

HITEC City, Madhapur and Gachibowli

The IT corridor and the convention district. HICC with the Novotel, HITEX, the Westin, ITC Kohenur, Trident, Hyatt and Sheraton are all here, so delegates, exhibitors and sponsors stay within a few minutes of each other. Weekday traffic between the corridor and the older city is slow, which shapes the schedule.

Established, central and heritage

Banjara Hills, the lake and the Old City

Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills are the established residential and dining quarter, home to Taj Krishna and Park Hyatt, good for senior meetings, boardroom formats and dinners where the hotel is part of the experience. Taj Falaknuma Palace stands above the Old City, and Charminar, Laad Bazaar and Chowmahalla Palace are the stops for a heritage day: ideal for a gala dinner or a half-day walk, less so for a plenary.

Tank Bund, Begumpet and Somajiguda
The central belt around Hussain Sagar. The Hyderabad Marriott and its 1,400-seat convention centre, ITC Kakatiya, Marigold, Vivanta and The Park sit here, close to Secunderabad station and Begumpet.

Flights to Hyderabad from the main Indian cities

Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata fly direct to Hyderabad, so delegates land the same morning and the programme opens that day. ICE India assigns each flight to a coach, staggers departures and builds peak-hour traffic into day one.

Convention and exhibition centres

Two large centres sit in the same business district, one built for conventions and one for exhibitions and trade shows.

  • The arched hall of the Hyderabad International Convention Centre with visitors outside

    HITEC City, Madhapur

    Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC)

A convention centre for several thousand delegates, with a pillar-free main hall that splits into six and the Novotel beside it for rooms.

    • Main hall: about 69,750 sq ft, about 5,000 theatre
    • 35 meeting rooms
    • Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre next door: 287 rooms
  • The tusk-shaped entrance monument at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad

    Madhapur

    HITEX Exhibition Centre

The choice when the programme is an exhibition or trade show rather than a conference. It has no rooms, so delegates stay in nearby HITEC City hotels.

What groups do in Hyderabad

  • Old City heritage walks

Charminar, Laad Bazaar and the pearl shops with a local guide, paced for mixed ages.

  • Palace and fort evenings

Dinners in heritage courtyards and visits to Golconda Fort, Chowmahalla Palace and the Qutb Shahi Tombs.

  • Hyderabadi food trails

Biryani, haleem and Irani chai tastings that work as a team activity as well as a meal.

  • Qawwali and classical evenings

Live qawwali or Kuchipudi dance, so the entertainment belongs to the city.

  • Film-studio challenges

Team games and a themed dinner at Ramoji Film City, on the city's outskirts.

  • Team-building challenges

Build a car in the F1 Challenge, a raft or a junkyard sale, or play a drum-jam session.

When to go

October to March is the working season: dry, mild and open for lawn dinners and heritage walks, and the end of the financial year falls inside it. Summers are very hot and the monsoon is heavy, so programmes from June to September are planned indoors with a heritage evening moved to a covered courtyard. Hyderabad rarely feels seasonal for conferences, since the main venues are fully air-conditioned and under one roof.

Events ICE India has run in Hyderabad

  • Guests watching the programme at a Transasia launch evening

    Transasia Bio-Medicals

The 2019 analyser launch reached Hyderabad on 13 April: 300 guests at the Marriott.

  • Award winners on stage at the IDBI Federal Life offsite in Hyderabad

    IDBI Federal Life Insurance

An annual offsite for 150 and more employees at Novotel Hyderabad: business sessions, awards and a qawwali dinner.

Planning an event in Hyderabad: questions

Should we use a convention centre or a hotel ballroom?

HICC suits a convention with several thousand delegates, a main hall and breakouts, and the Novotel beside it holds the rooms. For plenaries of a few hundred with a stay attached, a hotel ballroom is simpler and cheaper to dress. HITEX is the choice when the programme is an exhibition or trade show, not a conference.

Where in Hyderabad can we host a gala dinner with some character?

Taj Falaknuma Palace has lawns for up to about 1,200 guests and is the palace choice. For a lighter version, ICE India adds Hyderabadi cuisine, lantern lighting and a qawwali or classical performance to a hotel lawn or courtyard, which reads as local without the palace booking.

Where do smaller teams of 50 to 100 stay?

A smaller group does not need a convention hotel. Business hotels in Banjara Hills and Begumpet offer a single ballroom and a few breakout rooms at a calmer pace, and resorts at Shameerpet suit teams that want a campus feel away from the city.

Who manages corporate events in Hyderabad end to end?

ICE India is a Mumbai-headquartered corporate event management and MICE company with a delivery team in Hyderabad. It handles venue contracting, flights and transfers, AV, entertainment, branding and the event day, all run by one team.

What does a corporate event in Hyderabad cost?

It depends on the venue, season, flights and format. For reference, ICE India's published bands put a one-night conference for 200 people at ₹35-70 lakh including stay on twin sharing, F&B and AV, before GST. ICE India quotes each Hyderabad programme after a short brief. See corporate MICE.
