ICE India in Thailand
Planned by ICE India, with vetted local partners on the ground.

Why companies choose Thailand

  • Short flights from India

Under five hours from the main Indian metros and only 2h 40m from Kolkata. Thailand is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India, so the body clock barely moves.

  • Venues for large groups

The Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre seats 3,925 in one plenary, and IMPACT Arena holds 12,000.

  • City, beach and island in one trip

Bangkok for the meeting room, then a one-hour flight to Phuket or Krabi for the reward.

  • Two coasts, two seasons

When the Andaman coast has its rains from May to October, the Gulf islands around Samui are at their best.

  • Food that suits Indian groups

Indian restaurants, including pure vegetarian and Jain kitchens, are easy to find in every resort town.

  • Shopping and spa built into the day

Night markets, riverside malls and Thai massage fill the free hours between sessions.

Thailand for corporate groups

Thailand suits Indian companies because one trip can hold several moods. A leadership meeting fits a Bangkok riverside hotel, and an incentive reward fits a beach resort on Phuket, Krabi or Samui.

Bangkok and Pattaya have the large halls. Phuket has resort ballrooms of up to about 1,000. Krabi and Samui suit smaller groups of up to 200 who want a private island setting.

For group flights, hotels and visas to Thailand, see corporate travel.

Visas for Indian passport holders

For a short corporate trip, most groups need no visa. ICE India briefs every traveller on the entry steps before departure.

Visa exemption
Indian ordinary passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for tourism and short-term business, for up to 30 days. This has applied since 15 September 2026, until further announcement.
Stays over 30 days
A tourist visa is applied for online on Thailand's e-Visa portal. A single-entry tourist visa allows a stay of up to 60 days.
Digital Arrival Card
Every traveller completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online, within three days before landing. It is free, and it is separate from any visa.
Documents
A return ticket, a hotel booking, proof of funds and a passport valid for six months. Immigration officers may ask to see the ticket and the funds.

Two experiences groups book in Thailand: island hopping and a river dinner cruise

A day on the water and an evening on the river. Either can be the centrepiece of a Thailand programme.

Ko Tapu, the James Bond rock, rising from the green water of Phang Nga Bay

Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay and the limestone coast

Island hopping

A day of island hopping from Phuket or Krabi takes the group out by speedboat or catamaran. Phi Phi is 45 to 60 minutes from Phuket by speedboat, and the tour calls at Maya Bay, where the film The Beach was shot.

A second route goes to Phang Nga Bay and the James Bond rock. The drive to the pier is 45 to 60 minutes from Patong or Kata, then the boat takes 45 to 90 minutes.

Time
A full day, with hotel pick-up in the morning and a return by late afternoon.
Group size
Large groups split across several speedboats, or take one chartered catamaran.
As the gala night
Dinner on the sand at a Phuket beach club or resort, with the day's photographs on screen.
Food
Lunch on board or on the island, with vegetarian and Jain meals ordered in advance.

Wat Arun, the Grand Palace and the Bangkok skyline from the water

Chao Phraya river dinner cruise

Bangkok looks its best from the river at dusk. Dinner cruises leave from the piers along the Chao Phraya and pass the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun as the temples light up.

A small leadership team takes a private boat. A larger group charters a cruise with a buffet, a live band and a stage for the awards.

Time
Two to three hours, usually boarding at sunset.
Group size
Charter cruises take groups of up to 500. Smaller boats suit 20 to 40 guests.
As the gala night
Buffet dinner on deck with a live band and the awards ceremony.
Food
Thai and international buffets, with vegetarian dishes briefed to the boat's kitchen.

Where to go in Thailand

Seven bases, each with a different job. Most programmes pair Bangkok with one beach destination and fly between them.

Convention centres, temples and the river

Bangkok

Thailand's capital and its business centre. Bangkok has the country's biggest convention halls and riverside luxury hotels, with the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun along the Chao Phraya. Groups usually sleep in one of three areas, and the choice shapes the trip.

Sukhumvit and Ratchaprasong put hotels beside the BTS Skytrain, the malls and the restaurants, so delegates reach dinner on foot. River hotels such as Shangri-La suit quieter leadership stays with water views. The Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre sits beside Benjakitti Park, and BITEC is linked to its own BTS station by a covered skywalk.

Evenings are where Bangkok wins groups. Yaowarat's street food, the shops and restaurants of Asiatique on the river, and Chatuchak's weekend market all fit around a working day. Express boats on the Chao Phraya move a team between temples.

Best for
Conferences, dealer meets and the first or last nights of an incentive.
Team activities
Tuk-tuk challenges, cooking classes at Blue Elephant and guided temple walks.
Where to stay
Sukhumvit or Ratchaprasong for the shops, the river for quiet.

Beachfront ballrooms close to Bangkok

Pattaya

A beach city on the Gulf coast, long used by companies for conferences and incentives. Its hotels sit on the beach, so one stay covers sessions, free time and the sea. Centara Grand Mirage at Wong Amat and Dusit Thani on Pattaya Beach both hold ballroom events for hundreds, and Hilton Pattaya sits in the middle of town.

For larger meetings, the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall takes about 10,000 in theatre style, and the Tradition Hall at Nong Nooch Tropical Garden takes more than 5,000. Both suit big product launches and award shows, with hotels a short drive away.

Team days are easy to fill. Groups play golf, go game fishing, dive, race dragon boats or sail in corporate regattas. The Sanctuary of Truth is open from 8 am to 6 pm and again from 6:20 pm in the evening, and Koh Larn island is a short boat ride off the coast.

Best for
Conferences and team programmes of 200 to 1,000 near Bangkok.

Hua Hin beach and a resort with a pool beside the sea
Street food stalls under strings of lights at the Hua Hin night market

Thailand's original beach resort

Hua Hin

Hua Hin is Thailand's original beach resort, about 180 to 200 km south of Bangkok by road. It has a long sandy beach, lively markets and a relaxed, cosmopolitan feel, and it is a favourite for groups who want a calmer alternative to Pattaya.

The two large resort hotels, Hua Hin Marriott and Sheraton Hua Hin, sit on the beachfront. The Sheraton has the bigger ballroom, for up to about 800 guests, and the Marriott's largest room takes 256, so Hua Hin suits conferences and offsites of 100 to 400.

Free time is easy to fill. Golf courses and water parks are close to the resorts, and the Hua Hin night market sells seafood from open stalls. Team-building sessions run on the beach, and the town is quiet enough to keep a group together after dinner.

Best for
Offsites and incentive trips of 100 to 400 on a quieter beach.
Where to stay
The beachfront resorts, each with its own pool, spa and ballroom.
Evenings
The night market for seafood, then a beach dinner at the resort.

Temples, hills and the northern capital

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is the largest city in the north and a UNESCO creative city. The climate is cooler and the hills are green, so it offers a different trip from the beaches. Groups come for old temples, craft markets and the food of northern Thailand.

For conferences, Shangri-La Hotel Chiang Mai has the Grand Lanna Ballroom of about 16,300 sq ft, which takes up to 1,800 in theatre style. The Chiang Mai Marriott has 383 rooms and 22 meeting rooms, so a group of 200 to 500 can sleep and meet under one roof.

Programmes lean on the culture and the outdoors. Groups visit Doi Suthep temple on its hillside, shop at the Night Bazaar and the Sunday Walking Street, and take Thai cooking classes. Hill tribe treks, night safaris and a rice planting race make lively team days, and local spa treatments suit the evenings.

Best for
Conferences of 200 to 500 and culture-led incentive trips.

Beach resorts, Old Town and the island boats

Phuket

Thailand's biggest island and the easiest beach for a large group. The west coast has three resort areas. Karon and Kata are the largest, with Le Méridien and Centara Grand on Karon Beach and ballrooms of up to about 1,000. Kamala is quieter, and Bangtao to the north has beach clubs and the Laguna resort complex, whose function rooms seat 30 to 200.

Phuket Old Town is the contrast: painted shophouses on Thalang Road and Soi Romanee, cafes, and a Sunday walking market. It makes an easy half day between sessions, and groups return to the beach for dinner.

Sights near the resorts include Wat Chalong, the island's best-known temple, the Big Buddha on its hilltop, and sunset at Promthep Cape on the southern tip. Island trips to Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay leave from the island's piers, so Phuket is the usual base for the signature day. An incentive trip to Phuket usually centres on one resort stay and one island day.

Best for
Incentive trips and offsites of 50 to 400, with resort ballrooms of up to about 1,000.
Beach clubs
Private sections for 30 to 100 guests at beach clubs around Surin, Bangtao and Nai Harn.

Phra Nang Cave Beach in Krabi, with sandy shore and limestone cliffs
Longtail boats on a Krabi beach beside a limestone outcrop

Limestone cliffs, Railay and secluded resorts

Krabi

A quieter coast of limestone cliffs and clear water. Ao Nang is the resort town, with Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas on the shore and a meeting room for 140. Railay and Phra Nang beaches sit behind the headland and are reached by longtail boat, which is half the fun for a group.

Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, welcomes one group at a time. It has three event rooms and a largest space for 80, so a private leadership retreat has the resort to itself.

Days on the water are the draw. Operators run luxury yacht charters and sailing days from the bays, and dragon boat regattas in Phang Nga Bay make a lively team race. The Tiger Cave Temple climb gives a view over the Krabi plains, though the long stair climb suits fit groups.

Best for
Leadership retreats and reward trips of 20 to 100.
Where to stay
Ao Nang for a resort with a meeting room, Phulay Bay for full privacy.
Team activities

Koh Samui

An island in the Gulf of Thailand with white beaches, waterfalls and temples, at its best from February to August. Chaweng is the busiest beach, with shops, restaurants and Centara Reserve, whose two connecting halls take up to 200. Lipa Noi on the quiet west coast is home to Renaissance Koh Samui, where the largest room holds 100.

Samui suits small leadership groups who want privacy more than a big stage. Meetings stay compact, and the programme leans on the water: boating, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, parasailing and jet skiing are all offered from the beaches.

Day boats go to the Ang Thong marine park, a cluster of limestone islands with a viewpoint walk and kayaking. On land, the Big Buddha is the island's landmark, and the waterfalls and temple walks make a quiet half day. Thai restaurants on the beach suit a relaxed gala dinner.

Best for
Small leadership groups of up to 200, from February to August.
Where to stay
Chaweng for the beach and nightlife, Lipa Noi for calm.

When to go

November to February is the main season. Bangkok and the Andaman coast, which covers Phuket and Krabi, are dry and bright, with daytime highs near 30 °C. March to May is the hottest time, when temperatures regularly pass 40 °C.

The two coasts have opposite rains. Phuket and Krabi are wet from May to October. Koh Samui and the Gulf are best from February to August and wettest from October to December.

December to January
Peak season for beach resorts and ballrooms. Book early for groups.
February
Dry on both coasts, so Bangkok, Phuket and Samui all work in one trip.
May to October
Rain on the Andaman coast, with rougher seas that can reduce island trips. Plan Samui or Bangkok instead.

Time has flown since we returned from our offsite to Pattaya in February but we did want to thank team ICE India, especially Mufaddal, who organized everything for us in such an excellent way. Everything was perfect and professionally planned considering our budget, time constraints, likes and dislikes. Our specifications were met and you also came up with better and excellent suggestions. Thank you for your help in all the arrangements done for our offsite.

  • Dear Mufaddal and Shreya, This was our first event and we approached ICE India for support. You both were very calm, composed and able to make decisions at once, quickly. You were able to understand our needs and always happy to help even when the plan changes last minute. You are very organized in your work which leads to minimum last minute issues – which we all know are bound to happen. We had a fantastic experience and were treated with thorough professionalism right from planning, organizing and executing the event. It was a fabulous experience working with you both and we cannot thank you enough for executing it so well. Kind regards, Gita

Planning an event in Thailand: questions

Can we add Angkor Wat to a Thailand trip?

Yes. Angkor Wat is in Cambodia, about an hour by air from Bangkok to Siem Reap. It adds a second country and its own entry rules, so ICE India plans the visas and the extra flight at the start.

How do Thai kitchens handle vegetarian and Jain groups?

Thai kitchens use fish sauce and shrimp paste widely, so hotel chefs and restaurants are briefed ahead, menus are adjusted daily and the restaurants are scouted first. For vegetarian and Jain guests, that means complete meals, not side dishes.

Does a temple visit need a dress code?

Yes. The Grand Palace and the main Bangkok temples ask everyone to cover shoulders and knees, and shoes come off inside the halls. ICE India tells the group before departure.

We are a travel agency in India looking for a partner for Thailand. Where do we start?

Agencies and professional conference organisers can read how ICE India works with other agencies on Destination Representation.
