International destination

Bali for corporate offsites and incentive trips from India

Beach resorts in Nusa Dua, cliff-top gala venues at Uluwatu and rice-terrace stays in Ubud, with non-stop flights of about 7 to 8 hours from Delhi and Bengaluru and connecting options from other cities. ICE India organises Bali conferences, offsites and incentive trips, with venue, travel and delegate arrangements coordinated by one team.

Getting there
Non-stop flights of about 7 to 8 hours from Delhi and Bengaluru, and one-stop links from Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi and Ahmedabad
Best months
April to October, the dry season, with highs of 29 to 32 °C
Suits
Offsites, incentive trips, dealer meets and conferences for 50 to 2,000 guests

Why companies choose Bali

  • Resorts built for big groups

Nusa Dua has five-star resorts along one beachfront, with ballrooms for 1,000 or more at The Mulia, Grand Hyatt Bali and the Westin.

  • A visa on arrival

Indian passport holders can get a 30-day visa on arrival, or apply online first, so there is no consulate queue for the group.

  • Culture on the programme

Sea temples, the Kecak dance at sunset and daily offerings put Balinese Hindu traditions into the trip, and many Indian guests find them familiar.

  • Beach, cliff and jungle in one stay

Surf beaches, cliff-top temples, rice terraces and a volcano all sit within about two hours of one airport.

  • Islands within reach

Fast boats reach Nusa Penida from Sanur in 30 to 45 minutes, and phinisi cruises sail on to Lembongan and Lombok.

  • Familiar food on the menu

Indian restaurants in Nusa Dua, Seminyak, Kuta and Ubud mean a group is not tied to the hotel buffet every night.

Bali for corporate groups

Indian companies choose Bali because one island offers beach resorts, cliff-top venues and rice-terrace retreats within about two hours of one airport. Resort districts have their own ballrooms, so a corporate group in Bali can stay at one resort and travel out for dinners and sightseeing.

For a leadership offsite of 50, a cliff resort at Uluwatu or a villa stay in Ubud works well. Dealer conferences of 1,000 fit the ballroom at The Mulia, Grand Hyatt Bali or the Westin in Nusa Dua. Larger conferences use one of the two convention centres, both in Nusa Dua.

For group flights, hotels and visas to Bali, see corporate travel.

Visas for Indian passport holders

Indian passport holders can enter on a visa on arrival, applied for at the airport or online beforehand. ICE India handles the applications for the whole group.

Visa on arrival
Valid for 30 days and extendable once for another 30. It can be applied for online as an e-visa on arrival before travel, or paid for at the airport counter.
Processing time
Online applications are usually approved within a few working days, so ICE India submits group applications at least two weeks ahead.
Documents
Passports valid for six months, a return or onward ticket, and the free All Indonesia Arrival Card, completed online within 72 hours before landing. Each traveller gets a QR code to show on arrival.
What the visa covers
Attending meetings, incentives, conferences and events as a delegate. Speaking at an event, or paid work, needs a different visa.
Bali tourist levy
A one-time per-person levy for foreign visitors, paid online or at the airport on arrival in Bali. ICE India arranges it for the group.

Two experiences groups book in Bali: Uluwatu at sunset and a day under sail

Two experiences set Bali apart: a sunset on the Uluwatu cliffs and a day under sail. Groups usually plan their gala night around one.

Surf breaking below the green cliffs of Uluwatu on Bali's southern tip

A sea temple, a fire dance and a cliff-top dinner

Uluwatu cliffs and the Kecak dance

Groups arrive in the late afternoon for Uluwatu Temple, which stands on the cliff edge above the Indian Ocean. At sunset they take seats in the open-air amphitheatre for the Kecak dance, which runs from 6 pm to 7 pm each day.

The dance retells an episode of the Ramayana, which Indian guests will know. A gala dinner on a cliff-edge lawn, such as Alila Villas Uluwatu, follows.

Time
Late afternoon into the evening, about five hours.
Group size
Seats are reserved in advance for the whole group. The temple and the show are ticketed separately.
As the gala night
Dinner on a cliff-edge lawn with a stage, sound and lighting. The Alila lawn holds about 350 guests.
Food
Plated or buffet menus from the resort kitchen, with vegetarian and Jain dishes agreed in advance.

Sailing from Benoa to Nusa Penida and Lembongan

Phinisi cruises

A phinisi is a traditional Indonesian wooden sailing ship, now fitted out as a charter yacht. A sunset cruise leaves Benoa Harbour, follows the southern coast and anchors in Jimbaran Bay for sunset.

Longer day cruises head for Nusa Penida and Lembongan. A large group charters several boats, or one of the bigger vessels, with dinner and music on deck.

Time
A sunset cruise takes about four hours. A day cruise to Nusa Penida or Lembongan takes eight to ten.
Group size
A private phinisi takes 25 to 30 guests. The largest vessels take up to 250 for an evening cruise.
As the gala night
Dinner on deck, live music and the awards on stage.
Food
Menus cooked by the boat's own chef, with vegetarian dishes on request.

Where to go in Bali

Bali's resort areas are spread around the south of the island, with Ubud in the hills. Groups choose one area as the base and make the drive to the others when they go out for dinner or sightseeing.

Resorts, ballrooms and the convention centres

Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa

A planned resort district on the southeast coast, built for large groups. The Mulia, Grand Hyatt Bali, the Westin, the Apurva Kempinski, Hilton, Ayodya and Sofitel all stand along calm beaches, and both convention centres are inside the district.

Delegates can walk from the hotels to the Bali Collection, an open-air shopping and dining complex of about eight hectares. Tanjung Benoa, just to the north, is the centre for water sports, and Conrad Bali stands on its beach. The phinisi cruises sail from Benoa Harbour close by.

Hilton Bali Resort stands on the cliffs at the southern end of the district, and Paradisus by Meliá, renovated in 2025, has 492 rooms. The Bali Collection is open from 10 am to 10 pm and has a Sogo department store, so free evenings are easy to fill.

Beach dinners
Grand Hyatt Bali sets up beachfront dinners for up to 1,500, and the Unity Garden at The Mulia takes 1,200.
Summit venue
The Apurva Kempinski was a venue for the 2022 G20 summit, and its Candi Ballroom seats 800 in theatre style.
Room blocks
Seven Nusa Dua conference resorts have more than 400 rooms each, so one hotel can hold most groups.
Mid-size ballrooms
Ayodya Resort has 541 rooms and a ballroom for 600 in theatre style. The Kecak Grand Ballroom at Sofitel takes 650.

Seafood on the sand and cliff-top venues

Jimbaran and Uluwatu

The Bukit peninsula is the southern tip of the island. Jimbaran Bay is known for seafood dinners at tables on the sand, with cafes such as Menega open from 3 pm to 11 pm. Uluwatu, further south, has the cliff-top temple and a string of cliff resorts.

GWK Cultural Park, with its giant Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, sits between the two. It was the setting for the 2022 G20 welcome dinner and takes events of several thousand in the open air, and 800 in its amphitheatre.

The amphitheatre at Uluwatu Temple opens its gates at 4 pm, so groups arrive early to see the temple before the show. Temple entry and the dance are ticketed separately, and seats for a group are reserved in advance.

Jimbaran resorts
InterContinental Bali Resort has 425 rooms and a ballroom for up to 2,000. AYANA takes up to 2,300 seated, and its Rock Bar up to 880.
Uluwatu resorts
Renaissance Bali Uluwatu has 205 rooms and a ballroom for 500. Alila Villas Uluwatu holds 350 on its cliff lawn.
Mid-size groups
Mövenpick Resort and Spa Jimbaran has 297 rooms, and its Akasa Ballroom takes up to 500.
Sunset
The Kecak dance at Uluwatu Temple runs from 6 pm to 7 pm each day.

Beach clubs, restaurants and shopping

Seminyak, Kuta and Legian

The west-coast belt of surf beaches, beach clubs and restaurants, close to the airport. It suits incentive trips that leave the evenings free, and the beach faces the sunset.

Kuta has Beachwalk, a mall with more than 200 outlets, open from 10 am to 10 pm and until 11 pm from Friday to Sunday, and Discovery Mall on the beachfront. Waterbom Bali offers group rates for 20 or more and takes private events after hours. Seminyak and Kuta also have Indian restaurants, among them Queen's Tandoor and Spice Mantraa.

The ballrooms suit mid-size programmes. Padma Resort Legian's Plumeria Ballroom seats 288 at round tables and holds 600 for a standing reception, and the pillarless ballroom at Sheraton Bali Kuta divides in two for parallel sessions.

Legian and Kuta
Padma Resort Legian has 437 rooms and a ballroom for 500. Sheraton Bali Kuta has about 200 rooms and a ballroom for 650.
Kuta
Hard Rock Hotel Bali has 418 rooms and a hall for 500, and Bali Dynasty Resort has 313 rooms.
Seminyak
W Bali has about 230 rooms and a Great Room for 290, which suits board meetings and product launches.
Cocktail nights
The Kertagosa Ballroom at Bali Dynasty Resort holds 600 for a standing reception.

The cliffs and white-sand cove of Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida

A quiet beach town and the island across the strait

Sanur and Nusa Penida

Sanur is a calmer beach town on the east coast, with traditional jukung fishing boats drawn up on the sand. Hyatt Regency Bali, with 373 rooms, is its main conference hotel, and the Sanur Night Market is the place for sate lilit.

Sanur is also the harbour for fast boats to Nusa Penida, an island of cliff viewpoints and coves. The crossing takes 30 to 45 minutes, and groups allow about an hour and a half from the harbour gate to the island.

Hyatt Regency Bali has four meeting rooms, a multi-function room and a courtyard, and its Wantilan 1 ballroom covers about 5,000 square feet. Nusa Lembongan, the smaller island beside Nusa Penida, is the usual stop on phinisi day cruises.

Kelingking
The cliff viewpoint over a white-sand cove, known as T-Rex Bay, is the island's best-known sight.
Boarding
Groups arrive 30 to 45 minutes before departure, so the day trip starts early.
Best for
A free day for a group staying in Sanur or on the coast, with a boat lunch on the island.
Sunrise
The beach faces east, so a sunrise walk on the sand is an easy start to a morning programme.

A carved gateway at Ubud Palace

Rice terraces, temples and art markets

Ubud and the highlands

Bali's cultural centre, in the hills. The palace, the Monkey Forest and the Ubud Art Market sit within walking distance of each other, and the Campuhan Ridge Walk starts on the edge of town. The Ayung River, nearby, runs the rafting trips that groups book for team days.

The hotels here are small. Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan and Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, have 60 rooms each, with meeting rooms for 40 or fewer. Larger groups stay on the coast and come up for the day.

The Monkey Forest is open from about 9 am to 5 or 6 pm, and the Art Market opposite the palace is quieter in the morning. The rafting trips take about two hours on the water, through Grade II and III rapids, and about six hours with transfers and lunch.

Leadership retreats
A group of 60 or fewer can take a whole resort in the river valley, with the sessions held on site.
Day trips
Mount Batur is about an hour from Ubud, and the rice terraces at Jatiluwih about an hour and a half.
Evenings
Ubud is where groups see Legong and Kecak dance in village halls and palace courtyards.
Walking
The Campuhan Ridge Walk follows a grassy ridge between two river valleys, on the edge of town.

Beaches, volcano views and quieter offsites

Lombok and the Gili Islands

Lombok lies east of Bali across the Lombok Strait, with beaches, waterfalls and Mount Rinjani, which rises to 3,726 metres. It suits quieter offsite retreats. The three Gili Islands off its northwest coast, Trawangan, Meno and Air, are small beach islands for relaxed team days.

Mandalika, on the south coast, has Pullman Lombok Merujani Mandalika Beach Resort with 257 rooms, and Raja Hotel Kuta Mandalika Resort and Convention with 195 rooms and its own ballroom.

From Gili Trawangan the Rinjani massif fills the skyline across the water. Rinjani is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia and the highest point in West Nusa Tenggara province.

By air
A flight from Ngurah Rai to Lombok International takes under an hour.
By boat
Fast boats from Padangbai reach Gili Trawangan in about an hour and a half. Padangbai is about two hours from the south of Bali.
Seas
The strait is roughest from December to March, so boat programmes favour the dry months.
From Sanur
The crossing from Sanur or Serangan takes two and a half to three and a half hours, so groups sail from Padangbai instead.
Day trips
A day trip from Bali to the Gilis leaves only about four hours ashore, so most groups stay a night.
The twin bays and curved beach seen from the Padar Island viewpoint in Komodo National Park
A Komodo dragon on Rinca Island

Phinisi cruises through Komodo National Park

Labuan Bajo and the Komodo dragons

Labuan Bajo is the harbour town on the western tip of Flores and the gateway to Komodo National Park, which spreads over 29 islands. The dragons live on Komodo and Rinca. The climb to the Padar viewpoint looks over the island's curving bays, and Pink Beach can only be reached by boat.

Groups sail on a phinisi, the traditional wooden ship, for a day or for two to four nights. A private phinisi for a three-day cruise suits 4 to 14 guests, so larger groups charter several boats and sail in convoy.

Longer cruises add snorkelling and diving stops, such as Manta Point and the Taka Makassar sandbar. Day trips and overnight cruises both start from the harbour.

From Bali
A non-stop flight from Ngurah Rai to Labuan Bajo takes about an hour and ten minutes, on Batik Air and Indonesia AirAsia.
A day trip
Boats leave at about 7 am, reach Padar in about 75 minutes, call at Pink Beach and Komodo, and return by 5 pm.
Overnight
There are no hotels in the Rinca visitor zone, so groups sleep aboard or in Labuan Bajo. Operators arrange park tickets and permits.
Distances
Komodo's Loh Liang ranger station is about 40 km from Labuan Bajo: two hours by speedboat, or four to four and a half hours by phinisi.
Best months
May to October, the dry season.

Planning an event in Bali: questions

What do guests wear to temples?

Shoulders and knees are covered, and a sarong and a sash at the waist are worn inside temples. They are usually lent or rented at the gate. ICE India briefs guests before each temple visit.

What do vegetarian and Jain guests eat in Bali?

The kitchen is briefed before arrival, menus are reviewed every day and restaurants are visited first. Vegetarian and Jain guests then get complete meals rather than side dishes.

Can we combine Bali with Singapore or Jakarta?

Yes. Singapore is a common connecting point and a short flight away, and many groups pair it with Bali. Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, has the country's main business infrastructure and is a short domestic flight from Bali. See Singapore.

We are a travel agency. Can ICE India help with Bali?

ICE India plans programmes for companies booking their own events. Agencies and tourism boards that want to work with ICE India can read about India destination representation.
