If you’re planning a corporate travel incentive, this article would give you a fair insight into the destination. To begin, here’s a quick weather chart to help you select the right time of the year to visit. The best time to visit is in the summer months between June and September.
Though, if you’re keen to visit the famous tulip gardens known as the Keukenhof Gardens (where the famous Amitabh Bachchan & Rekha song from Silsila was picturised), remember that they’re only open mid-March until mid-May.
One can get to Amsterdam from most major cities in India on Jet Airways, Etihad or Emirates. It’s about a 9 hr. flight non-stop on Jet Airways. Indian passport holders would require to obtain a Schengen visa to visit the Netherlands. More information about the visa is available here.
Most international and European brands have hotels in Amsterdam and you could pick from budget 3-star hotels to 5-star ones. One tip for selecting your hotel – the closer you are to the city centre, the more expensive the hotels. You could pick a hotel near the airport or on the periphery of the city and score some really nice deals. Most groups will be transported around in a coach anyway!
Amsterdam is known for its canals, so one obvious thing to include in your itinerary would be a canal cruise! It’s a great way to see the city.
Another point of interest for tourists is Zaanse Schans, where one would get to experience the traditional art of making Dutch wooden clogs, traditional Dutch cheese and not to forget the essential selfie with the windmills!
Next stop Museumplein! Located there are three major museums – the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum – and the concert hall Concertgebouw. This is also where the famous ‘I amsterdam’ sign is. Great place for a group picture! Another not to be missed museum would be the Anne Frank House.
No trip to Amsterdam is complete without a visit to the Heineken Brewery! Its a great location to run some team building whilst at the same time enjoying some freshly brewed beer.
If your itinerary permits, do squeeze in a visit to Madurodam – a miniature park and tourist attraction in the Scheveningen district of The Hague in the Netherlands. It is home to a range of 1:25 scale model replicas of famous Dutch landmarks, historical cities, and large developments.
Another interesting location to run some team building activities would be at the Scheveningen Beach in The Hague. Or you could just consider giving everybody a day at the beach!
Now comes the quintessential question of where to get those coveted Indian meals for your group. The restaurants we’ve tried and tested are Restaurant Bollywood, Restaurant Taj Mahal, Restaurant Tandoor, Restaurant Spice Route in The Hague and Restaurant Invitation.
